Polystichum talamancanum X speciosissimum.
A NEW HYBRID! Here you see Dave Barrington puzzled by the fern I found. Still waiting on the genetic results to come bat but we are 90% sure (Dave is the worlds leading expert on the genus Polystichum) that it's a new hybrid. Since it's a hybrid between a 4n and a 2n this is a 3n sterile hybrid. So it's sterile, like a mule, and not it's own species, but it's a natural hybrid, not a man made one.
